The BUCK Stops Here!

I am SO TOTALLY EMBARRASSED!!!    (em  bar assed)

I have had to use *eck!* CHECKS lately since we haven't received our new debit cards yet (see previous post), and I ran out of the book of checks in my purse.

Well.

Hmmm.

See, I TWICE had to go to the BANK to get CASH yesterday.  You know, that stuff you pay for things with?

And.

Still.

Forgot.

I DID NOT HAVE CHECKS, NOR MY DEBIT CARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

UNTIL THE CASHIER RANG UP MY GROCERIES. *******&&&&&&&&&@@@@@@@@@@$$$$$$$!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's a damn good thing I shop at the grocery store that has MY BANK IN IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, the cashier was nice enough (who do I think I'm fooling?) to wait until I could go and get cash from the bank, to pay for my items.

As fast as I could push buttons on my phone, I was talking with the debit card dept of my bank.  The question?  How long before we get our new debit cards?!!  Answer:  7 to 14 DAYS!!!!!

FUCK!!!!

This is just KILLING ME!!!

I have learned my lesson.  I am going to have to learn to depend once again on cash, not my debit card.  Not checks.

I haven't carried cash since the early 80's, not since my purse was stolen, and lost all my cash in it.  From then on, I WROTE CHECKS!  After getting debit cards, I avoided checks like the plague.

Why?

Because it's faster.

Well, I am going to go back to using checks, (and cash!) and (try!) to only use my debit card at the gas pump.

I am feeling incredibly small, stupid and embarrassed.  For the second time in one day (yesterday).

I not only ran out of checks, I RAN OUT of checks.

So at midnight I was on the computer ordering NEW CHECKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This just HAS NOT been my week!   *G*

Thank goodness I learned to laugh at myself eons ago.......and so has the hubby!!!!

So, how was YOUR day?

Identity Theft!

OUCH!!!!  I swear, I never thought it would happen to me!  It did.  Thank goodness I caught it the same night it processed through my checking account.

I've been keeping a close eye on my account, as I'm supposed to be getting a couple of refunds.....well, when I went in to check on them, (nope, THOSE haven't processed yet, of course!) I noticed a withdrawal that I knew neither my hubby nor I had done.  Boy, was I in a hurry to contact the bank, but at 9:20pm, that's not possible.

So first thing after my bus route I was at the bank when they opened.  They said I had to contact the company.  So I did.  In the bank parking lot.  While I was talking to her, I asked if she would talk to the lady at the bank.  She did.  So the company verified it was a fraudulent charge, and the bank did up the 'dispute' papers, then I zipped on over to the police station and filled out a report there, also.

Since the company said it was across state lines, it's federal.  They couldn't tell me the address, but she could tell me that.

The bank was really wonderful about it, and while she did up the paperwork, she also deposited back to my account the money taken.   Whew!  I work hard for my money, and knowing someone else is working hard for it too, it JUST WRONG!!!!!!!

How they ended up with my information beats me, but I have a good idea of where they got it.  Of course, I'll never be able to prove it, but shit happens.   Just so long as this is the 'only!'  It's a real bitch being without my debit card........

So now alls well here in the boonies, thank goodness!!!!

Now, on to more fun stuff.  Not.

My hubby and I switched vehicles last week.  I had his truck to get hay, and he used my car.

Well, when I left for work this morning and, out of habit, checked the gas gauge, I had a hissy fit.  Yep, it WAS ON EMPTY!!!  And I mean EMMMMTEEEEY!  The little white thing was on the LEFT SIDE of the YELLOW.

Needless to say, I called the hubby and was not a happy camper....it's approx 35 miles to work....and asked if there was gas in the jugs at home.  Nope.

So I hung up.  Without saying goodbye.  (my bad)

And called the boss.

He didn't laugh, but it was close.

He said to just try and get as far as I could, then call and they'd come get me.

I was on pins and needles the whole time.  BUT!!   I made it all the way to work!  I don't know how, but it was great! not getting stranded on the side of the highway.

Hubby called me a couple of times, being 'kissy' and since I don't (usually!) hold a grudge, he forgave me for hanging up on him.

THEN, yep, it gets better!   I have two bus routes am and pm.  The first one was fine, but my bus quit on me at the beginning of the second one.....so I ended up running 30 minutes late.   LOL

They managed to get my bus back to the bus garage, so hopefully it will be fixed when I get back there this afternoon.

I sure do hope the rest of the day goes soooooomthly!!!  *g*

******************UPDATE**********************

Did I say 'soooooomthly?'  Hmphf.   I wish.  Good Ole Murphy was very active today.  I am now keeping my fingers (AND TOES!) crossed to help 'nudge' the 'sooooomthly' along.

My bus was done, so I took off in it, and after picking up the 5th/6th graders, headed over to the High School.  Well, while I had my back turned facing towards the back, making sure the kids all sat where they are supposed to, a parent came up to my doors and let me know I had a MAJOR anti-freeze leak......grrrr!!!

So I had to take a full bus load of kiddies, heh, back to the bus garage to switch to a different bus.  THAT bus had a buzzer that wouldn't SHUT UP!!!  Double Grrrr!!  FINALLY, part way thru my route, it stopped that totally irritating noise!  (Yeah, yeah, I know you're not supposed to drive with a buzzer on, but the mechanic made me do it!!!  *lol*   He really did, too.   Some buses JUST DO THAT.  This is one of them.  But it sure does 'get up & go!!!'  *G*  JUST TEASING.  It does get going faster then my bus though, which is nice.

I was still 15 minutes late picking up my second run.........

I checked after I came back in and my bus is ready to go!  Yeah!  I LOVE MY BUS!!!  Slow poke and all.  It handles so much nicer, and the seat isn't one of those new 'better for your back' ones that poke you in the lower back and give you a back ache.

I sure, hmm, well, yeah, that good ole Murphy takes a looooong nap tomorrow.  And the day after.  And the day after that.  You get the picture!   *g*

For now, I'm going to take the dogs out and then REST!!!!!!

New Stories!

Out of desperation, I started a new story a couple of days ago--it refused to wait!  So, along with the several other WIP, I've a new one to add to the 'must get this DONE stack!

I'm almost finished with one that's close to my heart, and starting this one is giving my mind a break so I'll be able to honestly critique it.

HA!

Who am I kidding?

Maybe if I say that enough times, out loud, it'll break though the 'but it's my baby!' syndrome!  *g*

I really do need to take a break, from taking a break.  lol  Having several weeks off for the summer has been great, but I'm only getting a very small bit of what I wanted to do, done, as the lazies have invaded and taken over, *cough, cough*  er, the new puppy is taking up a lot of my time.   Wonderful pup!  He's almost 4 months old now, an Australian Sheppard, and soooooooooo loving, lovable and easy to work with!

There's just one problem with this scenario.

He's my hubby's, yet I get the honor of working with him all damn day,  ha, I meant to say, hmmm, well crap.  I love the puppy, and now that he's pretty much house trained, and has figured out that when I'm on the computer, he's supposed to amuse himself, eat and sleep--in that order.  Right now he's napping under my desk as I type this--his favorite spot is laying on, up against, or under my feet.  I'm so proud of myself!!   Yep!  I'VE learned to look down before proceeding to move my feet and face-plant.  Really.  Finally.  Hmmm, won't go into how long that took.........

Well, back to my new story.

It's going well.  I've got to get back to it so I can get down all the upcoming scenes abounding in my head.

What I do really, really, really have to work on is getting it down and then going back and fixing typos, misspelled words, etc........I've a MAJOR tendency (OCD anyone?) to fix as I go (it totally drives me batty to see that RED HIGHLIGHTED THING!!! on the page!), and then the BEST EV-AH sentence is gone!  POOF!  Just like that.  Lost in the ether.  I've learned to promptly 'think what I was thinking' when I originally 'though it', and you know what?  That works more times than not in getting it back, as strange as that sounds.......

I've also learned to talk to hubby, watch TV, keep an eye on the puppy and write, all at the same time.

Amazing, isn't it, what a body can learn to do?

The story will be a combination of sci-fi, capture and love, m/m style.......based on all those 'stories' of 'I was kidnapped by an alien!' reports in the glad rags.  I just love paranormalsci-fim/malpha/subshapeshifter love and lust stories!

Hmmm, all the stretching and moving around under my desk must be a sign.  I wonder how long I dare ignore it?  *g*

Reading Critics

First, I love to read.

I'm always reading something, actually,  several 'somethings' at the same time! LOL, but something someone wrote recently really caught my attention, and it's been bothering me A LOT since then.

Real life can be, and is, very brutal and gruesome, the reality of what  humans do onto other humans sicking......

So I read for the pleasure it gives me to briefly live in another world, feeling what they feel, as the story unfolds.

It's MY 'escapism' from REAL life and the tragic actions of real humans, and I believe it started out that way for most people.   Even though I want all the angst and heart-felt feelings (read 'mushy' here *g*), I also need and want the 'Happy Ever After' ending, no matter how unrealistic that is.....fiction is fiction is fiction.....and in MY book, that means an author can WRITE WHAT THEY DAMN WELL PLEASE, Irregardless of the subject!!!!!!!!!!!!!**********, and screw the unenlightened 'but that's not real to life' bullshit some people sprout.

What is so hard about understanding that FICTION IS JUST THAT--FICTION?

Define fiction.

One simple little thing, before you make negative, cutting, unrealistic statements about a world where ANYTHING goes.

You may not like it.

I may not like it.

That's ok.

We all have the right to like or dislike any and all things we come in contact with.

But we do not have the right to question what others write in a field that Frankenstein lives in.

Thank you, Mary Shelly.

What started this rant?  I love gay, m/m, and erotica, especially paired with the paranormal and science fiction (there's that word again!), and read a comment recently about men, in their paranormal world, not needing to use lube when loving each other, and how out of whack that was and getting away from reality, etc., etc., etc.

I must say, it makes me sad when others 'forget' that the words fiction, paranormal, AND SCIENCE FICTION, are just what the words themselves mean-fiction, pure and simple.  Play worlds built around the 'unbelievable.'  Written for our pleasure.

I know there are 'different' types of fiction, and so should you.  So the next time a 'fiction' book strikes you as 'wrongfully' written, hit the dictionary and reread the definitions of 'fiction and paranormal and science fiction,' along with remembering this world would be a very sad place if we all wrote the same thing.

Just let me say, for the record, that you have the right to free speech, and whether or not you like something, we all need 'critics,' I'm not saying we don't, but be nice about WHAT you say, and HOW you say it....I assure you, you will still get your views across.  Put the shoe on YOUR foot before you open you mouth and sprout words guaranteed to put egg on your face.

I don't remember the person's name that caught my attention, but their WORDS did indeed strike a chord.  Good, bad or whatever.  They didn't need to be mean.

FORTH OF JULY!!!!!*****!!!!!!******

Independence Day!!!!   I luv it!  Er, well, let me rephrase that.....I luv the Forth of July, ON THE FORTH OF JULY!!!!

All the spectacular, LOUD, colorful, LOUD, different, hmmm, did I say LOUD? displays lighting up the sky.  Beautiful!!!  It's something I look forward to every year....until I moved up here to our present location.  Well, I still look forward to it, but....

Those up here 'celebrate' the Forth of July, EVERY DAMN DAY, for what seems like forever, BEFORE the 'actual' day even gets here!

I really don't like to bitch, but it gets very old, very fast, hearing BOOM!!, BANG!! most of the day and night for more than a month.....

The really nice thing, though?  Our neighbor across from us puts on a fireworks display every year,  and we watch in our comfy camp chairs every year, with our wine coolers, beer, and boiled in butter & beer shrimp....my mouth is already watering!!!  LOL!

Last year, he didn't have it, but he did put on a great display the week before, so that, in my book, still counts.

Have a Happy Forth of July, one and all!!!

HEAT WAVE!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's RED HOT, folks!!!   First the Ice Storm, then all the RAIN! and now all the HEAT!!!!  And no rain in sight!  I swear I'm melting.....and driving school bus in this heat isn't any fun......    Even our roads are getting in on the act--our road alone has had two, yep, count'em, TWO places that have buckled, one on either side of the bridge.  They've been repaving our road for the past week, and already some of the new stuff has had to be cut out and fixed.....The road people call them 'blow outs', I just call them a PAIN IN THE ASS!!!!  'cus they have to close the road to FIX IT!!!!    Damn good thing I know a side road......

Monday a group of us are going to the lake and will get to enjoy the pontoon and all that COOL WATER
!!!!  That will be wonderful!!

On a sadder note, the little puppy I brought home last November as a Christmas present for my Mom and Step-Father, has to have surgery on her back knees due to 'flucuating knees.'  She'll have to have both back knees done....one on Monday, and the other 3 weeks later.....poor little girl....she is going to hate going to the vet's.

Only 3 1/2 days of summer school left!!!  YES!!!  Then it 6 weeks off and playtime!  I'm sure looking forward to that!

I'll be working on my flower garden and transfer t-shirts.  Fun, here I come!

Nothing Special

Hmmm, I'm sick--again.  Was finally getting over it and wham!  It's going around again.  I hate being sick.  Especially when I've so much to do--inside and outside.

I haven't had a lot of computer time lately....which sucks....big time.  I was off work sick today, had to nap this afternoon and missed my nephew and his new lady when they came to visit.....damn.  Now I have to wait until July to meet her.....oh, well.

Had a really long nap, too.  I probly would still be napping except my dog needed to go out, and I didn't go back to bed.

I need a really good book to enjoy....it's the best way to forget (for awhile anyway) how bad I'm feeling.  Crap, I hate being sick.  It just sucks the energy right out of a body.

Haven't been reading as much lately either....I did read the new LKH book...hellaofbetter one than the last few she's done.  I like some luving with the story, but, NOT as much as her last few had.......this new one is back on track...thank goodness.

The storms have been many the past week and it's been raining off and on every day for the past week and still more to come.....which sucks even more then being sick......cause the humidity goes sky high and makes it miserable outside.

Hmmm, do I sense a theme here?  *g*

Well, back to bed for me....at least it's the weekend and being
lazy, er, resting is in the forecast for the next few days.  Maybe I'll get to check out my TBR pile....let alone get to pick one up and read it.

Nite all.

Spring Has Sprung!

Errr,  at least I think it has....if Spring equals rain (and Thunderstorms!) almost daily!  There is a severe storm heading our way now, so this will be short and sweet!

Just added to my Scrapbook some of the photos from the Ice Storm here in Missouri from January, 2009.  Each and every time I see them, 'Oh My God!  And I lived it!'  flashes thru my mind......

It was awful, beautiful, deadly.  And the worst, and best, time of my life.  The worst--because of the damage.  The best--I'm still here to tell the tale.

Spring is in the Air!!!!

It feels so good!!!!!!!!!!  The ice is all gone, Spring starts the 20th, Friday!!!!   Yea!!!  I can't wait to start working in the yard on my veg/flower gardens................it's so much fun getting dirty!!!  NOT!  LOL!  I love to dig, I don't like dirt under my fingernails!  Yuk!

I started a lot of my flower seeds early this year, inside the house-boy are they growing!!!!  I planted over 150 seeds!  STILL trying to find space for all of them near a window!!!  LOL.  12 of each flower, with a couple of veg/herbs tossed in for good measure.  I won't be able to plant outside 'til after the last frost--somewhere around the first of Mayish.

I plan on planting a mediumish-sized veggie garden.....so no more avoiding learning how to can & store them.....I HATE PRESSURE COOKERS!!!!  I may just learn how to do it the old-fashioned way......

Well, I'm missed logging in yesterday and wishing everyone a  'Happy Luck-o-the-Irish Day', yesterday.  We've a wee bit-o-the black Irish in our family....and the bs that goes with it! LOL!

Well, have a Super Day and good luck to all, in whatever you do!!!

Weather! Weather! Weather!!!!

Geezzzz!!!

First we go through the worst Ice Storm in recorded history, then a wind storm a few days after that, then the thunderstorm last night, and now we are in for more rain/freezing rain and sleet tonight, along with snow for tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!

I sure will be glad when spring and summer get here!  Course, then we'll have thunderstorms, tornados, dry spells.....well, you get the point.  This year, winter anyway, has been weird.

At least this stuff is happening on the weekend, so we won't loose anymore school days.  We have to make up 5 days as it is.  Three days of spring break gone, so far, and two days added at the end of the year.  Bummer.

ICE STORM 2009 CLEANUP

Oh, man.

What a day.

The 1/2 acre surrounding the house actually looks like a yard again.  No more snapped-off limbs scattered all over.  All burnt now, thank goodness.  It took the 3 of us all day to clean-up the yard.  It sure looks really good again.  Now we will have to do the horse pasture, about 1 1/2 acres, but that's alright--it does not look as bad as the yard did.  It is, but it's scattered about, not mainly in one area, like the yard was, plus we already worked some in the horse pasture a week or so ago, and have several burn piles ready to go, so that helps alot.  Didn't get to burn them today--just not enough time.

I can't believe how much work it was, and how long it took, to clean up the yard.  I mean, I knew there was a lot, and we'd already had several piles of broken limbs, so it's a bit shocking how long it took.  Hopefully this won't happen again anytime soon.  It was the worst Ice Storm in history, not just in the past two decades.  There are still over 500 people in our area, Missouri, that are still without power.  And the wind and rain storm last week didn't help any.  A lot of the replaced power poles were pushed over from the winds and rain, and had to be redone.

It's supposed to be windy tomorrow, with a bit of rain late in the day, so all the yard not semi-dried out will turn to mush again.  Damn.  It just firmed up the last couple of days.  Being able to walk in the yard without sinking in it is nice, ya know?  Oh, well.  At least the weatherman says it will be light and quick.

Except we woke up to a white world yesterday.  Yep. It snowed.  And not a hint of it from the weatherman.  At least all of it melted by early afternoon.

I sure will be glad when the wet weather holds off for a bit.  For now, I'm tired, sore, and resting, after a hot, hot shower.  I gave my puppy Little Bit a bath earlier too, so now she looks and smells good, too! LOL

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY, ONE AND ALL

Lover's Day.

Romantic, sweet, together.

For the first time in 11 years, my hubby & I get to share Valentine's Day in the same state, the same place, at the same time.  We will be married in March 11 years......which is the only year, just prior to the wedding, we got to share Valentine's Day together.

So grab the SO, forget everything else, and go make memorable memories to share.

Remember, today is Lover's  Day.

Set aside for that special someone in your life.

Today will soon be tomorrow's memory.

Make the time count.

You will be glad you did.

Finally! We have Power!!!!

Whew!!!

The electric company came out two hours ago and turned us on!!!!   Ah, the electric that is.....*g*

Anyway, what a relief!!!  There are still a lot of people without power, but the numbers are coming down, thank God!!!

We have been working in the yard for the past few days, trying to get all the tree branches and stuff cut up and put up, plus all the little stuff in burn piles.  It will take several days just to do that.  I spent all morning fixing horse fence and the hot wire around the horse pasture.  It's on a solar powered unit, but with all the limbs on the fence, it was broke in a few places and I had to wait until all the limbs were off it and it was repaired.

Now the hubby is home, we'll have water too!!!   Yea!!!!!!!!

Power Outage

Well, we are still without power, and this is day 4 1/2......and it will possibly be another week or two before we can get our power back on.  Hopefully.

I'm at my brother's, using my sis-n-laws computer...

The Ice storm left the town and surrounding country (US!) devastated...we had approx 28,000 out of power on Tuesday, in Poplar Bluff, and still, as of 3pm today, approx 24,000 are still without power(US again!).  It was on the radio today, that everyone has to remove their trees off the power lines on their property themselves, and then have electricians out to check out everything and verfiy all wiring is ok, before they will turn on your power.

This has been nerve-racking, cooking on a single burner propane burner, going to a friends/relatives for water, for us and my horses, having to go get propane every couple of days for the heaters to heat the living room.

What a trying time this is.

Ice Storm Of 2009!!!

Well,

We are in the middle of the worst storm in two decades......it's not much fun watching (and Hearing!!)  all the tree branches fall because of the thick, and getting thicker!, ice.  Well, sleet, freezing rain and ice.  I took photos a little bit ago.  Some really nice ones too.  If you can call this really nice...guess it's all relative.  The ice it's self is dangerous, but it sure looks beautiful coating a tree, plant, OR YOUR CAR!!!!!!

At least 250 schools in the surrounding areas, along with quite a few businesses, are closed, and will probably be closed tomorrow, also.  This storm started last night around 4/5pm and they say it won't be over until around 9am tomorrow morning.  The rest of today is more sleet and freezing rain, which will be turning over to snow late tonight--depending on temps.  Snow accumulations are supposed to be from 3 to 10 inches......on top of the inch or so of ice...hmmm.  Sounds like we will be digging along with chiseling our way out of our driveways.

I hope they do cancel school tomorrow--at least in the morning.  The last ice storm we had, a little one last month, caused a lot of major problems for drivers and most all the school bus drivers (including myself) got stuck and had to be helped out.  What a mess that was.  All the kids were delivered fine, just very late getting them all home.

Well, there went another limb.  Everytime I hear one crack and smack the ground, I have to go check it out and make sure none of the limbs have hit the horse fence.  Or the house.  At least we still have power, thank goodness.....just down the road from us, several people have no power, so we have been fortunate.

There has been some traffic on our road, but so far no snow plows......it's taking all they have just to try and keep up with the roads in town.

We fixed a big breakfast, and fixed dinner already too, just in case.  We have a propane single burner, so it will just need to be reheated if we do lose power.  Plus, we made cookies too......!  We prepared for this storm yesterday, getting out the two heaters, one propane, one kerosene, ready to use, put out the emergency candles, water and flashlights, so now we are all set.  Hopefully we won't have to use any of it though.  It would be rather nice NOT to lose our power.

There when another limb...the tree is a silver maple, HUGE, top heavy and with a shallow taproot.  We have another one in the back, right behind the house.  It's been loosing limbs with every storm lately.  And there are 3 big limbs that tower over the power line......JEEZE!!!!   ANOTHER limb just went while I was out there walking my Pom....This one hit the fence (a 3 board wooden one), and is laying on the top rail.  I'M NOT going to worry about that one until the ice is gone.  That tree is just a'creakin out there.  Unless the fence goes down, I'll wait!!!  Thanks very much!!

I've already done one perimeter check of the horse fence, as soon as it was light enough to see, guess I'll have to do another real soon!

It will be soooooooo nice when this ICE storm is just a memory.

Happy New Year!!!

Tis the Season!  And I have enjoyed all the food and goodies  BIG TIME!!!   Oh, well.  No more 'see food diet' for me.....you know, I see it, I eat it. *g*

It will be back to the grindstone on Monday....an easy grindstone, but still.....up early, etc., etc., etc.  I'm sure glad I love my job!!!  Otherwise, it'd be a real bitch getting back on track.  I like to think of these 2 weeks off as my vacation.  Then I enjoy them to the limit!  Off time in the summer months is great too, but saying 'well, school starts in a month' just isn't the same as 'back to work this Monday.'

Little Bit is doing great.  She travels really well.  I have a kennel for her, and didn't hardly hear a peep out of her, except when we'd first stop, or start out.  She's a great little pup.

Saw an advertisment today for a 10 CD collection of Oldies but Goodies from TimeLife....yep, I ordered it.  I couldn't help it.  I love that music!  What I DON'T like, is all the other offers when you call.....total pain in the ass!  I ended up on the phone for over 20 min. ordering it!!!
Hopefully it won't take long to get!

Well, hubby is looking over my shoulder, so I guess it's time to close now.....

Oh, yeah, I STILL have to figure out what my New Year's resolution is!!!   Damn....I hate figuring these things out-trying to be realistic at the same time I'm trying to change something.

The only thing I truly am going to work on, is 'GETTING IT DONE, WHATEVER IT IS!!!!'

And believe me.  That is a lot harder than it sounds.

So everyone have a safe and wonderful New Year!!!

Hmmmmmmmmmm......

It's been a hectic couple of weeks since my hubby came home--haven't had time to sit, let alone play on my computer!!!  Haven't been able to read much, or work on my wip either.

The puppy, Little Bit, is growing-she gained a half of a pound.  She had to visit the vet Saturday for her 2nd set of shots.  She doesn't have to go back for another 3 weeks, then it'll be once a year.  Yea!!!  The little buggers get spendy....I tell ya.  But they are worth it.

We finally started on my horse shed yesterday.  The ground is already so hard, we could only go about 16/18" down.  We set the poles, and started framing the roof today.  It's been flusterating as the lay of the land slopes quite a bit, so getting the roof rafters level was fun.  Not!  Well, they are done.  Next is a couple of more 2x6x14's for bracing, then we can start putting the covering on.  The sides will wait until last.

The bus garage entered the Christmas Parade.  We fixed up an old bus and most of the bus drivers walked with it and passed out candy canes/candy as we went.  It was lots of fun But Cold!!!  We all really enjoyed ourselves.

    Dinner's almost ready....so I'm off again!

He arrived home late last night, and it is soooooooooooooo goooooooooood to have him home!  It's been about 4 weeks now, since we last rendezvoused *g* in Illinois......hmmmm......loved those rendezvous's!!! *g*

His work took him to Indiana about 3 months ago.  Now, he's looking into jobs in Illinois, Texas and Alabama......and making noises if he ends up going, he wants me to be going too.  Soooooo, depending on the length of the job, wherever it is, it looks like we'll be going together.  If it's a short one, no, but a lot of the jobs are long-6 months and up-so if that's the case, as much as I dislike packing, (un-packing's great-just like Christmas!) I'll go with him.

I hate the thought of quiting my job--I love it, (I drive school bus) but life is about more the work-IF you can swing it, that is!.  AND, if he ends up going to Illinois, we'll be able to see the grand-babies all the time!!!!!!!!!  (So, you know which one I'll be routing for! Even though we both dislike the cold!!! lol!)

Back in '84, when (Nooooo, NOT 1884! *g*) I moved to Grapevine, Texas (the Dallas/Ft Worth area), I felt like I was coming home--very strange feeling for me, as I'd never been to Texas before.  I loved it, and found that there are, mainly, two types of Texans-the ones who'll tell you their life story the first time you meet, and the ones who are like clams---wouldn't tell you a thing if their life depended on it.  The only exception to that is if they decided they liked you.  I loved Texas.  I still do.

While I lived there, I worked for an air freight company.  It was a good job, another one I really liked, and since I lived so close to the airport, I heard the noise of the plane when Delta Flight 191 went down.  And saw the devastation.  It still haunts me now and then.  All those lives lost.  I didn't realize the impact of this type of disaster until it happened (almost) on my front door-I lived within 8 miles of the airport.

"On the afternoon of August 2, 1985, Delta Air Lines flight 191 crashed while on approach to the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, killing 8 of 11 crew members and 126 of the 152 passengers on board and one person on the ground: a total of 135 deaths."

It was so horrible-our trucks (and drivers) were used to store the bodies of the deceased, until other arrangements could be made.  For  a long time after, you couldn't help remembering--all it took was seeing the ruined water tanks.  They said it was caused by wind-shear.

Why have I remembered this now?  I don't know for sure, but I think it's because of the vendetta the wicked witch has in regards to a shall not be named successful author.

Life is too short to sweat the petty stuff--live and live well if you can, and enjoy the hell out of it, because you just might not be here to do it later.

Well, this post certain took a meandering path away from hubby & puppies!!!!  Right.  I'm back on track now.  Really.

Last night was the first time my hubby met our new puppy.  I've had her now for two weeks.  She's 1/2 Pom-1/2 Cairn Terrier, weighing in at 2.24 lbs.  She is a cutie!!!  And VERY smart and VERY, VERY active!!!  Hubby's hoping she stays little bitty--I don't think that's going to be a problem- she has teeny tiny feet.  Her name is Little Bit.  I thought of the chewy(ish!) candy ' Bit of Honey'  (one of my favorites!) when I first saw her and it fits her to a 'T'.  She's little and the color of honey.

She is doing wonderful with her training---she's found if she hurrys outside, she gets to hurry back inside!!!  LOL!!  Plus, she hasn't had any accidents in the past several days in her kennel. Yeah!!!  AND, she knows what the word "NO" means!  She hopps like a rabbit and it is such a crack-up when she's playing with her toys-yes, she has several!-and spreads them all over.  She especially loves the squeaky ones (of course!).

Hubby will be off for a while, maybe even until after New Year's, he's not sure yet.  Depends on which job he ends up on.  It will be relaxing to have this time together--no 'hurry up and visit' visit's this time.  Both are napping now........VERY relaxing!!!!   LOL!!  He's been sick, too, so the more he sleeps now, the faster he'll get over it.  He's had it for over a month, and working in the cold didn't help, either.

I'm going to go cruise (*g* lurk!!!) the net while both are 'napping' and the laundry is washing.....
